CFL Super Six is set – but the West remains a question

CFL Super Six is set – but the West remains a question
Reading Time: 2 minutes.

The CFL super six is set. We now know for certain who all six playoff teams will be. That is because Edmonton punched their ticket to the last place, the crossover spot in Week 18.

Who’s definitely in?

The CFL Super Six teams that will be fighting it out in the postseason are:

  • Calgary Stampeders
  • Winnipeg Blue Bombers
  • Hamilton Tiger-Cats
  • Saskatchewan Roughriders
  • Montreal Alouettes
  • Edmonton Eskimos

Who’s definitely out?

If you are a fan of the following 3 teams then you are already hoping for bigger things next year:

  • Ottawa REDBLACKS
  • Toronto Argonauts
  • BC Lions

Which just shows how quickly things can change. Ottawa were in the Grey Cup last year and BC were the crossover team.

What happens now?

The East is pretty straightforward. Hamilton and Montreal are both in the playoffs.

As Division champions, the Ti-Cats will host the Eastern Final. As runners-up the Als will host the Eastern Semi-Final and that will be against the crossover team Edmonton.

One thing is certain in the East therefore, the road to the Grey Cup runs through Hamilton.

The West is a little more more complicated. Three teams, Calgary, Saskatchewan And Winnipeg all have 20 points with 3 weeks of the season left.

Defending champions Calgary hold the inside track as they hold the tie-breaker over Saskatchewan and have played one game less than Winnipeg. The home and home series between those two over the next two weeks will be huge for deciding how the playoff placings go.

As it stands, all 3 of those teams could host the Western Final, all three of them could be hosting a Semi-Final or be travelling!

There are 3 weeks of the CFL season left and it will be fun seeing how all this plays out.
