Why?

Aaron Rodgers finally gets back to the big one. But it won’t be because of the QB and his offence. Green Bay’s defence should rank amongst the conference’s top units. Boasting a front 7 containing the likes of Kenny Clark, Rashan Gary, Preston Snith and De’Vondre Campbell (as well as former Georgia rookies Quay Walker and Devonte Wyatt) and a backfield of Jaire Alexander, Eric Stokes, Rasul Douglas and Darnell Savage, The Packers are primed to make a deep playoff run.

The Bills have been building towards a Super Bowl appearance for several years now. Led by Josh Allen, Buffalo have the fire power to live with anyone in a shootout. They also have the ability on defence with safety duo Poyer and Hyde, alongside new addition Von Miller, providing the experience and leadership needed for a championship team.

Why?

This year I think it’ll be a battle of the bay as Trey Lance does enough to get the super talented 49ers roster to the big show. They’ll be facing this year’s offensive player of the year, Justin Herbert, and the Chargers. Both squads have so much talent and some great coaching which should see them playing for the title.

Why?

I am picking the Bills as I think they have been building up over time to being the best, most balanced team in the AFC. They have upgraded the O line, have a great front 7 and plenty of talent all round. Throwing in a little superstition too as I have a suspicion the Chiefs and Bills will meet again in the playoffs and think it could be third time lucky for Buffalo.

In the NFC it was tough to overlook the Packers breaking through but if these two teams get into the playoffs, I know which one has the QB with the better pedigree for clutch postseason situations. It feels like the Buccs have a solid core too. You could see them winning their Division then ramping up to the A game for the playoffs.

For what it’s worth I’d go for Bills to win it all – and there to be barely a table left intact in Buffalo afterwards.

Why?

Rams mortgage their future again and are stacked, having a lot of the best players in the league in critical positions. AFC was tougher, teams like the Chargers and Bills are sexy picks but so often the bridesmaid, after the Bengals last year I think we get a more boring team back in the big game.

Why?

Nothing short of a miracle stopped the Bills making the playoffs last year. They have improved and Josh Allen is the most improved player in the league since being drafted. The Packers have won 13 games each year under Matt LaFleur. Yes, they have things to learn in January but they are the most reliable team in the NFC and, with the inside path to the #1 seed, have 19 weeks to become an indestructible playoff-ready team.

I have learnt my lesson. Never bet against Tom Brady. Nothing but an eighth Super Bowl victory will do it for the GOAT. In an NFC conference which isn’t as loaded, the pathway is there. As for the Buffalo Bills, it would take something short of a disaster for them not to win the AFC East. the playoff loss in a game for the ages against the Kansas City Chiefs will hurt long in the memory. But, the Bills are too good to bet against after improving this off-season.

Why?

I was tempted to go for the Bills here, but I just couldn’t see past Mahomes returning for his 3rd Superbowl in 4 years. I could also see the Rams returning again this season as their opponent, but with Brady’s return from (temporary) retirement I’m not willing to write him off so easily! The weapons at his disposal should help him towards one more superbowl appearance.
