Power Rankings Analysis
The Bills start on top in our NFL power rankings. After losing a close battle, in a postseason game for the ages to the Kansas City Chiefs, Buffalo will be hungrier than ever, in a division they should easily win, on top of improving over the offseason.
Their closest contenders to the top spot are the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Green Bay Packers. The Buccaneers again start the season as one of the favourites to make the Super Bowl. With Tom Brady returning, he won’t be settled until he has that eighth ring. The Packers, on the other hand, now have a seemingly content Aaron Rodgers and despite losing Davante Adams they have added talent to the offence in free agency and through the draft.
The rest of the top 10 are really ranked so closely. They all deserve their place as top 10 ranked sides and it is easy to see them having extremely successful seasons.
The real difficulty comes in ranking those teams in the teens. Two teams who you may think are tanked highly are the Vikings and the Eagles. The Vikings’ offence is primed for a massively improved season with an offensively minded coach and excellent playmakers. They could be a dark horse to watch.
As for the Eagles, after making the playoffs last season, they have gone out and improved dramatically this offseason. They have drafted extremely well and have added exciting veteran talent across the board.
One team who may find it unfortunate to be in the bottom half are the Miami Dolphins. They are a talented team and have added talent, but there are still too many question marks across the board to rank them above some other teams.
Another team you could make the case for is the Cleveland Browns. But, with all the controversy at the QB position and a strong division to contend in, it is difficult to see how far they can go.
At the bottom, you will find the Chicago Bears. After a torrid season, they don’t seem to have improved and haven’t provided Justin Fields with anything to work with. The whole team is in transition and despite drafting well, it’s not completely obvious where the wins will come from.
Just above them are the Atlanta Falcons and Seattle Seahawks. Two teams who are in transitional years, both could be down the draft order come to the end of the season. Both have seen their franchise QBs leave and while both teams have some pieces it isn’t enough.
