Here is a 7 round Washington Commanders mock draft for 2023
Using our mock draft simulator here are the players who could be in play for the Washington Commanders in the 2023 NFL draft
Even though this does not include trades, it does give an indication as to who may be available when the Commanders pick.
Here is your Washington Commanders Mock Draft
Round 1: Pick 16 – Joey Porter Jr – Penn State
Cornerback appears to be the position of glaring need for the Washington Commanders. Joey Porter Jr enter the NFL with a football pedigree, his dad being an LB for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Porter is a long, physical press corner who has the measurables that many teams will look for. Scheme diverse, he will certainly offer the Commanders an immediate upgrade at the position
Round 2: Pick 47 – Jack Campbell – LB – Iowa
Jack Campbell is one of my favourite players in the 2023 draft. A true middle linebacker he plays with intelligence, speed, physicality and a non-stop motor. A true ‘leader’ on and off the field the Commanders fans should be delighted if he were to fall this far come the draft – I do wonder if he will be gone by this pick however
Round 3: Pick 97 – Zacch Pickens – DT – South Carolina
A former 5 star recruit, Pickens has gone a little under the radar in this draft process. He has a disruptive first step which serves him well in both pass and run defence. An experienced defender with know how and quickness, he has a chance of seeing some rotational snaps on the d-line early in his NFL career
Round 4: Pick 118 – Tank Bigsby – RB – Auburn
A running back with great vision, who can attack gaps with toughness and physicality, Bigsby is one of the better running backs in this draft class. He has great patience and IQ as well as being able to absorb hits and maintain his balance. With teams looking to run the ball via committee, he could round out the Commanders’ backfield nicely
Round 5: Pick 150 – Cory Trice Jr – CB – Purdue
The Commanders go back to the CB well, this time for a more developmental prospect in Purdue’s Trice. A long, rangy corner standing at 6’3″ Trice has all the traits ripe for development as a round 5 pick. Physical in coverage, he can stifle opponents at the line of scrimmage. May struggle against quicker, shiftier opponents, but matched up correctly has a chance to gain meaningful game time
Round 6: Pick 193 – YaYa Diaby – EDGE – Louisville
A strong striker at the line of scrimmage, Diaby has athleticism for days. He is unrefined and raw at the position, but he has physical traits that NFL teams will believe the can work worth. 2nd overall amongst DE in athletic testing at the combine
Round 6: Pick 215 – Anthony Bradford – OG – LSU
A potential late round steal with starter potential down the road, Bradford is a huge guard with enough power and strength to eat up double teams. For teams looking to run gap or power concepts his ability to clear lanes in short areas will be sought after
Round 7: Pick 233 – Anthony Johnson Jr – S – Iowa State
A defensive back with position flexibility, Johnson is a great disruptor at the catch point, breaking up numerous passes. He has experience on the field and knows what he is doing. Not particularly explosive or dynamic, he is likely to be a day 3 pick, however don’t be surprised to see him hang around a roster after cut days
