It’s draft day and we are bringing you our final Mock Draft. All the rumours and speculation leads to this.
After hours watching tape, analysing prospects and ranking them, please enjoy our final Mock Draft.
***This mock drafts does not include trades that will inevitably occur come April 23rd***
As always, don’t forget to let us know your opinions on twitter @NinetynineYards.
Who is your team picking?
Cincinnati Bengals – QB – JOE BURROW – LSU
What more can be said? Cincinnati draft the player coming off possibly the most successful college season of all time.
Washington Redskins – EDGE –CHASE YOUNG – Ohio State
We now know the Redskins are fielding phone calls for potential trades. But with a franchise defining player sat there, who is going to be willing to cough up the coppers?
Detroit Lions – CB – JEFFREY OKUDAH – Ohio State
It would not be a surprise if Detroit finds a way out of this pick. But if they have no suiters or they stay put, they really need help at cornerback. Go and get the best one available.
New York Giants – OT – MEKHI BECTON – Louisvile
The Giants need help on the offensive line. Not only to protect Daniel Jones but to help Saquon Barkley. Becton causes havoc in the run game with outstanding finishing.
Miami Dolphins – QB – TUA TAGOVAILOA – Alabama
The Dolphins have come this far. Do they really go in a different direction? It has been rumoured for at least a year that the Dolphins were Tanking for Tua. It turned out they didn’t need to. There has been more and more talk about Tua’s health over the last few weeks, but it seems the Dolphins passed Tua’s medical at the combine. Do they take the risk?
LA Chargers – QB – JUSTIN HERBERT – Oregon
Picking a tackle or Simmons here, then a QB, later on, is a real possibility. It would not be surprising if they take a tackle and come back for a playmaking quarterback such as Jalen Hurts later on.
GM Tom Telesco favours mobile QBS over the prototype, but, The Chargers aren’t far away and a QB on a rookie contract, who is consistent and accurate outs them right in the window.
Carolina Panthers – LB – ISAIAH SIMMONS – Clemson
New head coach Matt Rhule gets a foundational player on defence. With Luke Kuechly retiring, Simmons is the future leader of the Panthers’ defence.
Arizona Cardinals – OT – JEDRICK WILLS JR – Alabama
A tackle has been pencilled in since the Cardinal pulled off the steal for D’andre Hopkins. They could have the pick of the bunch and Wills is potentially the most polished of the lot. Rumours again have swirled about them trading but surely the value is in picking a quality tackle.
Jacksonville Jaguars – CB – C.J. HENDERSON – Florida
C.J. Henderson is our 22 overall player. Those around the league seem to be a lot hotter on Henderson than we are. Henderson has all the physical measurement you could ask for but issues around tackling remain. The Jags major needs are cornerback and Henderson goes a long way to address them.
Cleveland Browns – OT – TRISTAN WIRFS – Iowa
Another team who are desperate for offensive lineman. Cleveland will likely take whichever of the big four tackles are available here.
New York Jets – OT – ANDREW THOMAS – Georgia
The Jets went a long way to cure their offensive line trouble in free agency. But they are not done yet! If any of the big four tackles are available here they take them. Thomas our top-rated tackle, if not receiver is an option, or even trading back. Thomas is an absolute powerhouse not only in the passing game but in the run game. This will help both Sam Darnold and Le’veon Bell. Thomas slots in as a day or starter.
Las Vegas Raiders – WR – CEEDEE LAMB – Oklahoma
The Antonio Brown situation has been spoken about enough, but, the Raiders simply have to sort out their receiver issues. The Raiders do have other issues to fill but they should not take any chances. Ceedee Lamb is a beast after the catch with true playmaking ability.
San Francisco 49ers via Indianapolis – WR – HENRY RUGGS III – Alabama
San Francisco will feel they are almost there. They felt their hands slip away from the Vincent Lombardi Trophy back in February. On a recent call, GM John Lynch said with pick 13 they have to find a foundational player. Ruggs will add the explosivity the 49ers need.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers – DT – DERRICK BROWN – Auburn
It will surprise many to see Brown fall this far. Brown is a wrecking ball in the run game and with the league becoming more pass-heavy do teams in the top 10 choose accordingly.
Denver Broncos – WR – JERRY JEUDY – Alabama
The Broncos would snap your hands off for Jeudy right now. He doesn’t have the direct speed of Ruggs or the run after catch of Lamb, but Jeudy is the most polished of all the receivers in this class and potentially the last few years. Concerns over his knee mean he becomes WR3.
Atlanta Falcons – DT – JAVON KINLAW – South Carolina
Highly linked with a trade-up, the Falcons love to be aggressive in the Draft. If they want to get into the top 5 as reported, to possibly compete for Chase Young or Jeff Okudah, they are going to have to pay top dollar.
If they stay put then the edge rusher class is weak, so getting a dangerous defensive tackle to partner Grady Jarrett is a consideration.
Dallas Cowboys – EDGE – K’LAVON CHAISSON – LSU
DeMarcus Lawrence on one side. K’Lavon Chaisson on the other. The Cowboys could look to add another edge rusher, a position of increased importance in a pass-heavy league.
Miami Dolphins via Pittsburgh – OT – JOSH JONES – Houston
If Miami take their future QB at 5 then they need to find ways of protecting him. Josh Jones is an athlete of epic proportions. He has all the size and natural ability to be a future starter. He is raw but with the right coaching could be a foundational piece to protect whoever ends up under centre.
Las Vegas Raiders via Chicago – LB – KENNETH MURRAY – Oklahoma
Murray is a future team captain. He smashed team interviews and comes with all the leadership and energy you could ask for. A pure field general in the middle of your defence.
Jacksonville Jaguars via Rams – WR – JUSTIN JEFFERSON – LSU
The Jags are almost as short at receiver as they are at corner. Jefferson is a clean receiver. Great route running ability and can turn on the gas when needed.
Philadelphia Eagles – LB – PATRICK QUEEN – LSU
Eagles fans won’t be happy with this. They are desperate for a receiver. In this draft, you can get multiple competent receivers in the second and third rounds. A sideline to sideline instant gamechanger of a linebacker is difficult to pass on.
Minnesota Vikings via Buffalo – CB – JAYLON JOHNSON – Utah
The Vikings are a team that are apparently hot on Johnson. Johnson slots straight into the Vikings backfield. He is an athlete with a high ceiling that thrives in the tackle.
New England Patriots – EDGE – A.J. EPENESA – Iowa
Belichick prefers his edge rushers to have size over speed and to have a football brain over elite testing. Epenesa is the perfect fit for the Belichick defence.
New Orleans Saints – QB – JORDAN LOVE – Utah State
The Saints and Sean Payton loved Patrick Mahomes coming out of college. Although they clearly are not the same player, problems regarding consistency and game management are there. Do the Saints draft Brees’s successor?
Minnesota Vikings – WR- BRANDON AIYUK – Arizona State
After trading Stefon Diggs to the Bills, the Vikings get their next star receiver. With no real depth after Adam Thielen, the Vikings could look to add even more firepower in later rounds
Miami Dolphins via Houston – C – CESAR RUIZ – Michigan
Ruiz completes the trio. In the first round the Dolphins can go a long way to mending their offensive problems. If you are going to draft your next franchise QB, you may as well give him all the help you can get him.
Seattle Seahawks – OT – AUSTIN JACKSON – USC
Austin Jackson is just the type of kid you want to pick. A humble guy with all the measurables. After donating bone marrow to his sister last off-season, Jackson’s final year at USC could have been better, but he has all the skills and character to become an eventual starter.
Baltimore Ravens – LB – ZACK BAUN – Wisconsin
Zack Baun was born to be a Raven. Baltimore needs some help in their pass rush but Baun does more than that. His ability to drop and cover zone and man to man means he can be a foundational player on the Ravens’ defence for years to come.
Tennessee Titans – DT – MARLON DAVIDSON – Auburn
Help is needed on the defensive line in Nashville. Davidson can line up inside or on the edge. He has all the effort and leadership to fit the Titans’ scheme.
Green Bay Packers OT – ISAIAH WILSON -Georgia
The Packers are really short on the offensive line after losing Bryan Bulaga in free agency. Wilson is still raw and will become a competent backup until he is ready to slot in.
San Francisco 49ers – CB – A.J. TERRELL – Clemson
The 49ers more than likely trade this pick. They don’t pick again until the firth round and collecting some picks will be a priority. The 49ers are also in need of a tight end but is using a first round pick a bit rich?
Kansas City Chiefs – RB – D’ANDRE SWIFT – Georgia
Could the Chiefs offence get any better? Well, what if you add in a legitimate running back with the ability to run up the gut and catch out of the backfield. The Chiefs get better by adding the best available player.
