DAY 3 STEALS
Kenneth Gainwell – RB – Memphis
For our money, Gainwell has gone criminally underrated through the whole of the draft process. Gainwell is a lethal playmaker who has incredible field vision and power. He is slippery with the ball in hand and is one of the best backs in this class in the passing game.
A team is going to get a steal on day 3 in Kenny Gainwell.
Jabril Cox – LB – LSU
It is a real shock that Jabril Cox is still on the board. He was view by our Draft Talk team as one of the top linebackers in this class.
Cox has the traits that the NFL now like in modern day linebackers. He has the size and the speed to be a feature linebacker. He is disruptive from the second level and he performs well in coverage and in pursuit.
Trey Smith – IOL – Tennessee
Trey Smith is an explosive o-lineman who excels in the run game. He has a great recovery technique and works well in short spaces. Ranked at #51 on our Big Board, Smith is a better player than his draft position will let on.
The only reason for his fall will be due to medicals. Smith has had issues with blood clots on his lungs and it has appeared to be a reoccurring issue. With the teams getting medical data from the combine, we can only speculate that the issue wasn’t as resolved as let on.
Fingers crossed for Trey Smith that he gets picked sooner rather than later and those medical issues clear up.
Tylan Wallace – WR – Oklahoma State
As we spoke about on our Draft Talk podcast, Tylan Wallace has been a bit of a sleeper throughout the process. Wallace has a fantastic catch radius and is a clean route runner. He thrives in contested catch situations and has really good contact balance.
Wallace does have some injury concerns and he may not have the raw speed that some receivers that were selected on day 2 have. But, he will be a contributor on a team in the NFL.
Daviyon Nixon – DT – Iowa
Nixon had a standout year in 2020 and we expected him to be selected on day 2. He is a snappy and punchy disruptor who is both powerful and strong. Nixon has good movement skills and explosiveness, summed up by his pick 6 against Penn State.
There doesn’t appear a lot not to like about Nixon. He may be a bit raw, but we expect him to be one that goes early on day 3.
