FUTURE STARS

MAX BORGHI – RB – WASHINGTON STATE

Max Borghi is a player who has been on the radar for a while. More of a receiving back than a bell cow rusher, his skill set is valued highly by the NFL, which is increasingly playing the running back position by committee.

Extremely effective in the passing game out of the backfield, Borghi has the ability to put up highlight worthy plays, once he gets the ball in his hands. Let him catch a checkdown or a screen and let him work. He has strong hands and is a mismatch as a route runner. Also, he is sufficient enough as a pass blocker when needed and has the skill set to be used on special teams.

Looking at a possible later round selection, Borghi has always had success against Oregon. In his 2 games against them he has, 94 rushing yards and 1 TD on top of his 121 receiving yards and 1 TD. Borghi will be hoping he enjoys the same success in 2021.

MARTIN EMERSON – CB – MISSISSIPPI STATE

Martin Emerson is only just getting the attention he deserves. He has long been a top player, but has not demanded the attention that other corners in this class have.

Emerson is a lockdown corner who has the athletic profile to succeed. He is a tall, long corner who is both physical and explosive. His awareness and instincts are good and he shows a high end football IQ when diagnosing routes.

In 2020, Martin Emerson topped the SEC in pass breakups and was 3rd in the nation. He was a player that us as well as others should have been looking at more at the start of the season and he is rightfully starting to get the attention and respect his play deserves now.

RASHEED WALKER – OT – PENN STATE

Penn State’s game at home to Michigan has a true NFL Draft battle. The pass rushers of Aidan Hutchinson and David Ojabo are coming to town and how offensive tackle Rasheed Walker matches up against them will be all important to his draft stock.

Raheed Walker has ideal size and length and has the traits to be an NFL tackle. Walker is consistent at the tackle position and displays the foundations of a player who could play on Sundays for years to come. His strength is excellent and has a brilliant athletic profile. As a blocker he has a strong base and can deal with different types of rushers.

There is no doubt that a matchup against Michigan could be a defining game for Walker. A match up against not only the dynamic duo of Hutchinson and Ojabo will prove the most difficult pass rushing tandem that he has had to face.

How Walker comes through this game will either see his draft stock significantly rise or fall .

DEVONTE WYATT – DT – GEORGIA

In a brilliant Georgia defence which is full of NFL talent, Devonte Wyatt isn’t being spoken about enough. On the defensive line it is Jordan Davis who is getting all the love and it is about type Devonte Wyatt got some too!

Wyatt is a player who has the size to be successful as an NFL defensive tackle. Wyatt thrives in the run game where he has the size and the low body strength to take on double teams. He is a strong tackler who has the strength to move offensive linemen. With 13 QB pressures on the season, he has had success at Georgia. But, it is as a run stopper where he really shines.

Tennessee are huge underdogs against Georgia and if they are to find any success they are going to need to run the ball and run down the clock. The commentators, again, will marvel over Jordan Davis, but watch out for the effort Devonte Wyatt also puts in.

ISAIAH FOSKEY – EDGE – NOTRE DAME

Isaiah Foskey - Future Stars

In his first year as a starter, Foskey has excelled in the Fighting Irish defence. Continuing to rise up draft boards Foskey is looking more and more like an early round pick.

Isaiah Foskey is an explosive athlete who possesses fantastic upside as an outside pass rusher. He is flexible round the edge and his athleticism gives him the advantage on every snap. His initial burst and aggressive acceleration is blazing. With 8 sacks and 3 forced fumbles on the year, Foskey has steped into the starting lineup and dominated.

The 2022 NFL Draft edge class is excellent and we will see multiple taken within the first few rounds. If Foskey is to continue his dominance someone will take him relatively early given his high ceiling. Foskey is going to have to continue to be productive if Notre Dame are to make a late push for the playoffs. If he is this good and this dominant so early into his career, NFL teams will be excited to get their hands on him.
