NFL Combine – 324 Players Invited
Reading Time: 3 minutes.

It has just been announced that 324 draft prospects have been invited to participate in the 2022 NFL Combine which is now weeks away.

With the Senior Bowl week over, attention will quickly turn to the 324 NFL Draft prospects who will participate in the 37th edition of the modern NFL Combine.

The NFL Combine displays a huge opportunity for teams as they get a up close examination of this draft class. However, it is also a huge opportunity for the players to get in front of NFL evaluators and impress.

The NFL Scouting Combine will take place between 1st – 7th March 2022 at Lucas Oil stadium. Here all 32 teams will scout and evaluate hundreds of the top NFL draft prospects. The week is essentially a week long job interview for those attending, with time being given for teams to do 1 on 1 interviews with prospects. Each team is allowed a maximum of 60 minutes with a player in 15 minute sessions.

It is also an opportunity for teams to collate medical and mental testing information. Although, the controversial Wonderlic Test has been scrapped for 2022.

The Combine allows prospects to test in multiple different athletic areas. The 40 yard dash is usually the headline but, along with getting measured, other drills such as shuttle drills, the 3 cone, bench press and both broad and vertical jumps also feature heavi

The NFL Scouting Combine has been as we now know it since 1985. It was the combining of 3 different football training camps for NFL Draft prospects in a bid to cut costs and give the NFL a one stop shop for their scouting staff. After making cameos in Arizona and New Orleans, the NFL Combine has been held in Indianapolis since 1987.

The 2022 NFL Combine will be headlined by some big time plays at some big time programs. Georgia lead the way with the most prospects at 14. They are closely followed by Oklahoma and Alabama who both have 9 players represented. Other notable schools are LSU and Texas A&M who both have 9 representatives, while Playoff Semi-Finalists Michigan and Cincinnati both have 8.

Some of the headline players will be Aidan Hutchinson, DE , Michigan and Evan Neal, OT, Alabama, who are both expected to test freakishly well. A name to watch in the 40 yard dash will be UTSA corner Tariq Woolen. He is rumoured to push into the 4.2s. In addition, Boye Mafe from Minnesota should test extremely well.

Another player to watch closely will be Pitt QB Kenny Pickett. We should get that long awaited hand size which has been dominating Draft circles.

Some of the players who are unlucky to miss out on a Combine invite and will be bitterly disappointed are Aqeel Glass, QB, Alabama A&M and Emeka Emezie, WR, NC State. Similarly, there is also a hugely, unexpected snub for Sterling Weatherford, S/LB, Miami (OH) who was at the Senior Bowl.
