Reading Time: 3 minutes.

We turn to now look at team grades for the NFC North.

It was a chaotic Draft weekend for all 4 teams in the NFC North, with the Aaron Rodgers saga and a huge trade up from the Chicago Bears. But which team had the best overall draft?

Chicago Bears – A

  • #11 – Justin Fields – QB – Ohio St
  • #39 – Teven Jenkins – OT – Oklahoma St
  • #151 – Larry Borom – G – Missouri
  • #217 – Khalil Herbert – RB – Virginia Tech
  • #221 – Dazz Newsome – WR – North Carolina
  • #228 – Thomas Graham JR – CB – Oregon
  • #250 – Khyiris Tonga – DT – BYU

The Bears went bold in round 1 and Justin Fields may keep Ryan Pace and Matt Nagy in their jobs. Drafting his minder (Teven Jenkins) in round 2 was even more important. Herbert also adds a nice rotation to the running back group.

Detroit Lions – B

  • #7 – Penei Sewell – OT – Oregon
  • #41 – Levi Onwuzurike – DT – Washington
  • #72 – Alim McNeill – DT – NC State
  • #101 – Ifeatu Melifonwu – CB – Syracuse
  • #112 – Amon-Ra St. Brown – WR – USC
  • #113 – Derrick Brown – LB – Purdue
  • #257 – Jermar Jefferson – RB – Oregon State

The rebuild has begun. The early focus was in the trenches with a solid but unspectacular draft. Much will be expected of their first 2 picks Penei Sewell and Levi Onwuzurike. The knee cap biters are on track.

Green Bay Packers – B+

  • #29 – Eric Stokes – CB – Georgia
  • #62 – Josh Myers – C – Ohio State
  • #85 – Amari Rodgers – WR – Clemson
  • #142 – Royce Newman – G – Mississippi
  • #173 – Tedarrell Slaton – DT – Florida
  • #178 – Shemar Jean-Charles – CB – Appalachian State
  • #214 – Cole Van Lanen – G – Wisconsin
  • #220 – Isaiah McDuffie – LB – Boston College
  • #256 – Kylin Hill – RB – Miss State

Their QB may not agree, but, this was a roster boosting return in positions of need. Particularly across the first three picks. However, a cloud remains over Green Bay heading into next season.

Minnesota Vikings – A

  • #134 – Janarius Robinson – Edge – Florida State
  • #157 – Ihmir Smith-Marsette – WR – Iowa
  • #199 – Jaylen Twyman – DT – Pittsburgh

The Vikings performed magic in round 1 trading down nine spots and still taking Christian Darrisaw. They then maximised the return later on including Kellen Mond in round 3. Kirk Cousins will be looking over his shoulder!
