Aaron Rodgers (28)
It’s been an incredible season for Rodgers. He lead the league in touchdowns (48), completion percentage (70.7%), quarterback rating (121.5) and had the fewest interceptions (5). His 48 touchdowns and 70.7% completion percentage are both career highs for the 16 year man from the University of California, Berkeley.
The Packers went 13-3 and had the leagues highest scoring offence with Rodgers at the helm. Rodgers was key throughout the regular season. Starting with 364 yards and 4 touchdowns against the Vikings in week 1, The first of his 7 games with 4 scores.
Rodgers only had two games with a quarterback rating below 100; the loss to Tampa in week 6 and win against Carolina – the only games he had less than 2 touchdowns. Set to make his 21st playoff start this weekend against the Buccaneers, Rodgers will be aiming to get his hands on his second ring come February.
Josh Allen (8)
The Bills Quarterback takes a deserved silver medal in our poll after a career best season. Statistically Allen was great, his 37 touchdowns, 69.2% completion percentage, 4544 yards and 107.2 quarterback rating are all top 5 and all career highs.
Allen can take a lot of credit as leader of the offence, the 2nd highest scoring (501 points) offence in the league and the highest scoring team in Bills history. What can’t be measured is Allen’s improvement as a leader. He’s a huge part the Bills went 13-3, their first 13 win season since 1991.
Rodgers and Allen are in very good company here. Joint 3rd with two votes a piece we’ve got Patrick Mahomes and Deshaun Watson. The 10th and 12th picks in the 2017 draft Mahomes and Watson have 3 pro bowl appearances each and yes, Mitch Trubisky was drafted before them both (sorry Bears fans).
Only Watson threw for more yards than former MVP Patrick Mahomes this season, 4823 vs. 4740. Not bad by Watson considering his team went 4-12 and Mahomes 14-2. Both deserve all sorts of accolades but unfortunately come up just short in the UK NFL Media All Pro Team.
Who Missed the Cut?
It’s tough to get a look in when the top two get 90% of the votes. But we wouldn’t be doing our due diligence without mentioning another few candidates.
Brady enjoyed his first season away from New England, his 4633 yards is 3rd in the league and his highest total since 2017. His 40 touchdowns is second only to Aaron Rodgers and Brady’s best since 2011.
Wilson deserves a mention too. He made hell of a start to the season. Through the first half of the season he was on target for 5082 yards and 56 touchdowns. The latter of which would have been an NFL record! A disappointing finish for the ‘Hawks season saw Wilson’s all pro chances crumble, but still, not a bad effort.
