POWER RANKINGS ANALYSIS

Top Half

The Chiefs overtake the Buccaneers for second place in the Week 2 NFL Power Rankings. The Bucs struggled to get any momentum into the game before the ejection of Marshon Lattimore. The play calling was conservative and will need to be more creative if the Bucs are to achieve the heights they want to achieve.

The Eagles fly up the board with an impressive win over the Vikings. With one of the easiest strengths of schedule in the NFL, you can expect them to be there or thereabouts come playoff time.

Did you know that “I Don’t Like Mondays” by the Boomtown Rats is actually a homage to Kirk Cousins? The Vikings QB is now 2-10 in Monday Night Football games. If the Vikings have any serious hope of competing deep into January, then Cousins needs to figure out what his issues are.

The top speed of a Bottlenose Dolphin you ask? Around 22 Mph in short spurts. The speed of the Miami Dolphins’ receivers? A tad over 21 Mph from Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle. The task now is maintaining that speed over the duration of the season, which of course a Bottlenose Dolphin can’t. Add in Mike McDaniel playing to the strengths of Tua Tagovailoa, and the Dolphins look difficult to stop. Bottlenose Dolphins also eat around 32 lbs of fish a day. Might suggest staying away from that lads – Stick to the speed.

A difficult day for Niners fans with the injury to Trey Lance. Jimmy G is now the quarterback for the season. What it does for the future of the 49ers, who knows for certain. But, for now, they still have a strong roster and a shot as a playoff contender.

Let’s talk about the stand-out calls.

Carolina Panthers at 32. Is this Panthers’ roster the worst in the NFL? No. Absolutely not. But they are playing like it. Matt Rhule is doing nothing in an attempt to save his job; Ben McAdoo has been a disaster as an offensive coordinator; Baker Mayfield is doing nothing to put himself in a position to be a starter next season. All meaning that the Panthers could be looking to clear ship and it’s easy to see why.

The Colts have fallen astronomically from where we thought they would be at the start of the year. Starting the season against the Texans and the Jaguars, nothing but 2-0 would have been acceptable. They haven’t scored points in 6 of the 8 quarters this season and that is unacceptable, especially given their schedule. The schedule now becomes more difficult and the Colts need to pull something from somewhere. The question is, from where will they find it?

The Cowboys dug one out against a talented Bengals team. What did we find out? This isn’t Dak Prescott’s team. It’s Micah Parsons’. In his second season, he is already one of the best players in the NFL and has picked up exactly where he left off in 2021.

The young talent of the Jets stood up. It’s difficult to know where this team stands without Zach Wilson as QB and they have a difficult schedule. Even though it is difficult to know where the wins will come from there is room for optimism for the future.
