STRENGTHS
- He is extremely long. you cannot miss him on tape
- Has elite arm length. His wingspan is over 82”
- Has all the traits
- Knows how to use his size to his advantage
- Really exciting motor. never stops
- Production comes on him overwhelming with his athleticism and size
- Extremely traitsy player
- Is a strong player who can rip blocks but isn’t asked to do it nearly as often as you would like
- Can drop into coverage and shows good instincts. Has the athletic ability to do that, just doesn’t have the development to know how to do it yet
WEAKNESSES
- Extremely, extremely raw
- A complete project
- Plays out of control
- All his production comes from way on the out wide on the outside. He just won’t be lining up there at the next level, so it is all projection,.
- Struggles more defending the run. This is because right now he doesn’t have much of a strength profile to underline his traits
- Can overshoot his assignment and needs to work on awareness and playing more disciplined.
- Simply needs to get coached up
SUMMARY
Andre Carter is possibly the biggest projection in the 2023 NFL Draft and probably the most difficult evaluation. Coming from a service academy he hasn’t had the upper-tier coaching that he needs to take the next step. He plays completely out of control and is a bit like a bull in a china shop. He has the abilities, he just needs to refine them and he needs someone to teach him how to use his legitimate elite athletic tools. While he has dominated in school this has been with his athletic instincts and he really hasn’t been tested against better opposition. You shouldn’t expect Carter to come in and make a difference on your team straight away but with a couple of years of NFL coaching and development, Carter has the freaky traits to be anything he wants to. Andre Carter should become the highest drafted player out of Army since the 1940s.
