Mock Draft 2022: Owain’s Final 3.0

Mock Draft 2022: Owain’s Final 3.0
Reading Time: 5 minutes.

It is so close now that it is time for Owain’s final Mock Draft!

With only days to go, it is time to put our cards on the table. Here is Owain’s final mock draft of the 2022 cycle and this is what he thinks could happen in the 1st round of the 2022 NFL Draft.

***This mock draft does not include trades that will inevitably occur come Draft Day***

This mock draft is predictive and what we think will happen rather than what we would do.

Who is your team taking?

1.

Jacksonville Jaguars – DL – TRAVON WALKER – Georgia

Going on what NFL Network’s Peter Schrager suggested in his mock. The fact this is even being considered gives it legs. Would I do this? No. Do I think Trent Baalke would do it? Absolutely.

2.

Detroit Lions – DE – AIDAN HUTCHINSON – Michigan

No need to even put the Lions on the clock. Just skip ahead.

3.

Houston Texans – CB – DEREK STINGLEY JR – LSU

The Texans have been exploring options at the cornerback position and at this point it is just weighing up who is higher on your board and who may be available at pick #13 because someone has to fall. Derek Stingley has gained huge momentum through this pre draft process. This is putting 2 and 2 together.

4.

New York Jets – DE – KAYVON THIBODEAUX – Oregon

If Thibodeaux is available then the Jets should run the card in. They need more pass rush and Thibodeaux is exactly what they need.

5.

New York Giants – OT – IKEM EKWONU – NC State

The Giants need to attack the trenches and are able to with picks 5 & 7. They nab the offensive tackle first with Carolina finely poised behind.

6.

Carolina Panthers – QB – KENNY PICKETT – Pitt

The Panthers have thrown everything at trying to find their solution to the QB position. Unsuccessfully, yes, but hey, why stop now.

7.

New York Giants (via CHI) – CB – AHMAD GARDNER – Cincinnati

The Giants just need to add good players! They may look to attack the defensive line, but Sauce is difficult to pass up. Ahmad Gardner is an excellent player who also fills a need.

8.

Atlanta Falcons – QB – MALIK WILLIS – Liberty

I know. Trust me, I hate this more than you do. But, if the Panthers don’t take Willis at #6 I don’t see him getting past the Falcons or Seahawks.

9.

Seattle Seahawks (via DEN) – OT – EVAN NEAL – Alabama

Currently the tackle position in Seattle is terrible. That is putting it politely. The Seahawks should do everything they can to attack the position.

10.

New York Jets (via SEA) – WR – JAMESON WILLIAMS – Alabama

The Jets need to add a WR1 and have been trying all ways to trade for one. Their problem will be which receiver do they prefer. Here they go Williams with his game breaking speed.

11.

Washington Commanders – WR – GARRETT WILSON – Ohio St

Washington absolutely loves drafting Ohio State receivers. They get another one here.

12.

Minnesota Vikings – S – KYLE HAMILTON – Notre Dame

Kyle Hamilton is my #1 rated player and quite frankly, if he does make it to #12, then the teams who drafted before have made a mistake. Hamilton is a game changer and the Vikings will be licking their lips at the prospect of Hamilton falling to them.

13.

Houston Texans (via CLE) – OT – CHARLES CROSS – Mississippi St

The Texans front office would sleep like babies after the NFL Draft’s opening night if they were able to get Derek Stingley and Charles Cross.

14.

Baltimore Ravens – DT – JORDAN DAVIS – Georgia

Jordan Davis has the makeup of a Raven. This fit was too tasty to pass up.

15.

Philadelphia Eagles (via MIA) – DE – JERMAINE JOHNSON – Florida St

Johnson is big, powerful and strong. Exactly what Howie Roseman loves when drafting defensive ends.

16.

New Orleans Saints (via PHI) – OT – TREVOR PENNING – Northern Iowa

The Saints need to add a tackle and they get one here. The NFL is apparently much higher on Penning than some of the media, so don’t be surprised if he goes higher.

17.

LA Chargers – WR – CHRIS OLAVE – Ohio St

Chris Olave is the perfect fit for the LA Chargers. A silky smooth route runner with pace to burn.

18.

Philadelphia Eagles (via NO) – WR – DRAKE LONDON – USC

The Eagles continue to build a basketball team at the receiver position.

19.

New Orleans Saints (via PHI) – WR – TREYLON BURKS – Arkansas

The Saints have added a pass protector, they now need someone to catch those passes.

20.

Pittsburgh Steelers – QB – DESMOND RIDDER – Cincinnati

We all know how much work the Steelers have done on QBs and Ridder seems to be the one in fashion as we head to draft day.

21.

New England Patriots – CB – TRENT MCDUFFIE – Washington

The Patriots said goodbye to JC Jackson and adding another corner could be wise. Draft for value not for need. Well how about both?

22.

Green Bay Packers (via LV) – DE – GEORGE KARLAFTIS – Purdue

George Karlaftis is a big bodied DE who would do a lot to the Packers front entering their rotation. A young, athletic, versatile piece who the Packers love to draft.

23.

Arizona Cardinals – DT – DEVONTE WYATT – Georgia

Wyatt is a pure athletic specimen who can make an impact in year 1. GM Steve Keim loves drafting defensive tackles and it is easy to fall in love with what Wyatt offers.

24.

Dallas Cowboys – IOL – ZION JOHNSON – Boston College

The Cowboys need to add a starting interior linemen and they have coverted Zion Johnson throughout the pre-draft process.

25.

Buffalo Bills – CB – ANDREW BOOTH – Clemson

Andrew Booth is a high upside corner who is more than worthy of being drafted much higher than this. Being able to fill a need with a top prospect. That is the dream scenario.

26.

Tennessee Titans – IOL – KENYON GREEN – Texas A&M

I was extremely tempted by Sam Howell here. But, the Titans need to improve on the offensive line and Kenyon Green is one of the best interior lineman in this class.

27.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers – CB – KAIIR ELAM – Florida

The Bucs struggled at corner last season. Elam has the ability to be an instant starter, who thrives in press coverage.

28.

Green Bay Packers – WR – CHRISTIAN WATSON – NDSU

Watson screams Packers receiver. Hitting the measurables they like in big bodied receivers with great athletic scoring.

29.

Kansas City Chiefs (via MIA) – DB – DAXTON HILL – Michigan

There is a lot of talk that Daxton Hill could go a lot higher than this. But what tremendous value it would be to pick up a player of Hill’s quality and versatility late in the first round.

30.

Kansas City Chiefs – DE – ARNOLD EBIKETIE – Penn St

The Chiefs need to add pass rush and Arnold Ebiketie offers them exactly that. He will be able to provide instant production and will add dynamism, speed and consistency to the Chiefs front.

31.

Cincinnati Bengals – CB – KYLER GORDON – Washington

The Bengals have attacked the offensive line which gave them worries in 2021. Here they attack another position of need, corner, and get an athletic upside player in Gordon.

32.

Detroit Lions (via LAR) – QB – SAM HOWELL – North Carolina

5th year option. If you can’t trade out of this spot, it may be worth a punt.
