NFL Draft 2022: AFC North Team Grades
Reading Time: 4 minutes.

As we review the 2022 NFL Draft we will be giving out team grades for all 32 teams, going division by division.

We of course won’t know how these drafts will plan out until the players take to the field but here we grade each draft upon how we evaluated each player.

Here are our AFC North team grades.

AFC NORTH TEAM GRADES

Cincinnati Bengals – C

Could Dax Hill become Michigan's secret weapon on defense? - mlive.com

  • #31 – DAXTON HILL – S – Michigan
  • #60 – CAM TAYLOR-BRITT – CB – Nebraska
  • #95 – ZACH CARTER – DL – Florida
  • #136 – CORDELL VOLSON – OT – NDSU
  • #166 – TYCEN ANDERSON – S – Toledo
  • #252 – JEFFREY GUNTER – DE – Coastal Carolina

While the Bengals started off hot by taking a fantastic talent in Dax Hill in the 1st round, there are a couple of reaches in their class. Taylor-Britt is a good player and both Hill and Taylor-Britt will improve the Bengals secondary. Zach Carter was drafted much earlier than many experts had him slated, while Cordell Volson was drafted when there was a lot of other talent at the position that have been ranked higher available.

Cleveland Browns – B

Q&A: Martin Emerson - Mississippi State

  • #68 – MARTIN EMERSON – CB – Mississippi St
  • #78 – ALEX WRIGHT – DE – UAB
  • #99 – DAVID BELL – WR – Purdue
  • #108 – PERRION WINFREY – DT – Oklahoma
  • #124 – CADE YORK – K – LSU
  • #156 – JEROME FORD – RB – Cincinnati
  • #202 – MICHAEL WOODS II – WR – Oklahoma
  • #223 – ISAIAH THOMAS – DE – Oklahoma
  • #246 – DAWSON DEATON – IOL – Texas Tech

The Browns were able to pick up some really nice talent despite not picking until pick 68. David Bell will have a chance to be productive in that offence while Perrion Winfrey will have an opportunity to prove himself joining that defensive front. Cleveland also added to the front by taking Alex Wright who, while a surprise pick has a chance to be a really good player.

Baltimore Ravens – A+

team grades - Kyle Hamilton

  • #14 – KYLE HAMILTON – S – Notre Dame
  • #25 – TYLER LINDERBAUM – IOL – Iowa
  • #45 – DAVID OJABO – DE – Michigan
  • #76 – TRAVIS JONES – DT – UConn
  • #110 – DANIEL FAALELE – OT – Minnesota
  • #119 – JALYN ARMOUR-DAVIS – CB – Alabama
  • #128 – CHARLIE KOLAR – TE – Iowa St
  • #130 – JORDAN STOUT – P – Penn St
  • #139 – ISAIAH LIKELY – TE – Coastal Carolina
  • #141 – DAMARION WILLIAMS – CB – Houston

The Ravens just draft good players. While other teams can sometimes over complicate it the Ravens just put themselves in position to get good players at great value spots. Kyle Hamilton is an absolute stud, while Tyler Linderbaum was an exceptional value pick later in the 1st round. But, it was through day 2 and day 3 where the Ravens really were able to succeed. David Ojabo could not have gone to a better team, who will now be able to develop and recover from injury. Quite how Travis Jones made it to the 3rd round is unbelievable. Then to get Faalele, Likely, Armour-Davis  on day 3 just topped off an awesome few days for the Ravens. The Ravens – NFL Draft. Completed it.

Pittsburgh Steelers – B

team grades - Kenny PIckett

  • #20 – KENNY PICKETT – QB – Pitt
  • #52 – GEORGE PICKENS – WR – Georgia
  • #84 – DEMARVIN LEAL – DL – Texas A&M
  • #138 – CALVIN AUSTIN III – WR – Memphis
  • #208 – CONNOR HEYWARD – FB – Michigan St
  • #225 – MARK ROBINSON – LB – Ole Miss
  • #241 – CHRIS OLADOKUN – QB – South Dakota St

The inevitable happened on opening night as the Steelers selected Kenny Pickett. We knew the Steelers were in on a QB; it was just a matter of which one to take. Pickett was the most pro ready of all the QBs but he will still need to prove whether his ceiling is high enough to compete with all the QB talent in the AFC. The Steelers did find really good value throughout the NFL Draft though. Especially on day 2 where they were able to snatch Pickens and Leal who both possess fantastic ability and potential.
