Bo levi Tieger-Cat: Mitchell signs in Hamilton

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats have set the wheels turnng on the annual CFL quarterback free agency carousel by announcing the signing of former Calgary Stampeder triggerman Bo Levi Mitchell.

The Ticats traded for Mitchell’s exclusive negotiating rights from the Calgary Stampeders following the 2022 season. today they were happy to tell the world, “the football club has signed American quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell to a three-year contract”.

Mitchell, who has been in the CFL for 10 seasons, (all of them with Calgary until now) last season surpassed the Stamps franchise record with 32,392 yards passing. Eventually that ended up being 32,541 yards as Jake Maier began to slot in as the starter.

Bo has pedigree

For those not in he CFL know, this is a big signing for Hamilton. There will doubtless be a debate about whether he still ‘has it’. But you cannot dney that Bo Levi Mitchell has an incredible CFL pedigree.

He has made 2,496 of 3,866 pass attempts (64.6%) for 32,541 yards with 188 touchdown passes and 89 interceptions during his time in the league. Not to mention he is a two time MOP and 2 time Grey Cup champion.

Tied Jeff Garcia’s CFL record for most consecutive wins to start a career with seven.

Hamilton are adding a player that has appeared in 165 regular seaon games (117 starts), 11 playoff games, and 5 Grey Cups.

It will be fascinating to see how the next chapter of his Hall of Fame career unfolds in balck and gold. Now get ready for this to trigger other free agency moves falling into place.
